 Reise in die Wüste

Kairo – Oase ( Bahariya – El Farafra – El Dakhla – El Kharga ) – Luxor – Assuan – Kairo

Linienflug von Frankfurt nach Kairo. Begrüßung durch die ägyptische deutschsprechende Reiseleitung. Transfer zum Hotel. Abendessen und Übernachtung Kairo.

Morgens Fahrt zu den drei Pyramiden von Gizeh: Cheops, Chefren und Mykerinos. Die größte und zugleich gewaltigste ist die Cheops-Pyramid, die von Cheops erbaut wurde und zu den ältesten erhaltenen Bauwerken der 4. Dynastie (2670-2500 v.Chr.) zählt. Direkt gegenüber liegt die Sphinx, eine aus einem Felsen gehauene, mythische Löwengestalt mit dem Haupt eines Pharaos. Danach Fahrt zum Ägyptischen Museum mit seinen kostbaren Exponaten wird 5.000 jährige Geschichte lebendig. Fahrt in das islamische Viertel zur Saladin-Zitadelle und Besuch der Alabaster-Moschee von Mohamed Ali. Abendessen und Übernachtung Kairo. 

Von Kairo aus Fahrt über die gut asphaltierte Straße zur 370 km entfern­ten nördlichen Oase Bahariya. Im Umkreis des Hauptortes Bawiti entfaltet sich die ganze Pracht üppiger Oasengärten mit Obstbäumen und Dattelpalmen. Hier befindet sich eines der größten Gräberfelder der griechisch-römischen Pharaonenepoche, die Grabstätten sind noch nicht der Öffentlichkeit freigegeben. Besuch des Museums der Goldenen Mumien. Abendessen und Übernachtung Oase Bahariya.

Nach dem Frühstück Beginn einer Fahrt im Geländefahrzeug durch die wunderschöne Landschaft mit bizarren Felsformationen, vorbei an den Kristallbergen in die Weiße Wüste mit schneeweißen Sandfeldern und seltsamen Kalksteinformationen und unendlich scheinenden Dünenlandschaften. Am Nachmittag Ankunft in der Oase Farafra, die kleinste der Oasen, die bis heute ihren ursprünglichen Charakter bewahren konnte. Die meisten Bewohner sind Beduinen, die in kleinen, mit Wandmalereien bemalten Lehmziegelhäusern mit hölzernen Türen und mittelalterlichen Schiebeschlössern wohnen. Abendessen und Übernachtung Oase Farafra.

Weitere Erkundungen in der Weißen Wüste mit ihren faszinierenden Kalksteingebilden, Zeugen des ehemals hier befindlichen Ozeans. Nachmittags erreichen der Oase Dakhla. Abendessen und Übernachtung Oase Dakhla.

Ausführliche Besichtigung der nahezu vollständig erhalten Altstadt El Qasr, einst Hauptort der Oase Dakhla. Spaziergang durch die engen Gassen der Oasenfestung. Das Oasendorf Balat, mit dem heutigen Zentrum Mut, den Ruinen des Klosters Deir el-Hafar und die Gräber von Muzawaka. Anschließend Fahrt über die Teerstraße zur Oase Kharga. Abendessen und Übernachtung Oase Kharga.

Besichtigungen in der Oase Kharga. Die fast 90.000 Einwohner sind größtenteils Nubier, die mit dem Bau des Assuan Staudamms umgesiedelt wurden. Besuch von Kharidjah mit dem Hibis Tempel, welcher 600 Jahre v. Chr. Erbaut und dem Gott Amun gewidmet wurde. Spaziergang durch die Palmengärten zur Nekropole von Al-Bagawat, einer Stätte mit vielen koptischen Lehmsteintempeln aus dem 4.-6. Jahrhundert. In einigen der 120 Grabkapellen sind heute noch schöne Wandmalereien biblischer Szenen zu sehen. Weiterfahrt nach Luxor. Abendessen und Übernachtung Luxor.

Besuch der weitläufigen Tempelanlage von Karnak, die den Amun-Tempel, das Heiligtum des Chons, der Festtempel Thutmosis III sowie zahlreiche andere Gebäude umfasst. Danach Besichtigung des berühmten Luxor-Tempel. Am Nachmittags Fahrt nach Theben West, welches auf der anderen Nilseite liegt. Besichtigung der Memnon-Kolosse, des Hatschepsut-Tempels und einiger ausgewählter Grabanlagen. Abendessen und Übernachtung Luxor.

Morgens Fahrt nach Edfu und Besichtigung des Horustempels, ein Meisterwerk ptolemäischer Tempelbaukunst und ist die besterhaltene Tempelanlage in ganz Ägypten. Weiterfahrt durch das schöne Niltal nach Kom Ombo, wo das kleine Doppelheiligtum  des Krokodilgottes Sobek und des falkenköpfigen Gottes Haroeris besichtigt werden. Am späten Nachmittag Ankunft in Assuan. Abendessen und Übernachtung Assuan. 

Besichtigung der Granitsteinbrüche mit dem unvollendeten Obelisken und Fahrt zum alten und neuen Hochdamm. Bootsfahrt zur im Nasser-See liegenden Insel Agilkia mit dem Philae-Tempel, der heilige Isis-Tempel. Abendessen und Übernachtung Assuan.

Der Vormittag steht zur freien Verfügung, Möglichkeit für eigene Erkundungen, Besuch des Basars oder Bummel entlang der Corniche. Am Nachmittag Fahrt mit einer Segel-Felucca auf dem Nil, mit Blick über die einmalige Nil- und Wüstenkulisse Assuans, zur Kitchener Insel mit dem idyllisch gelegenen Botanischen Garten. Abendessen und Übernachtung Assuan. 

Freie Zeit. Fakultativ: Gelegenheit zu einem Ausflug nach Abu Simbel, Besichtigung des aus den Nasser-See an Land verlegten Felsentempels des Ramses II und seiner Lieblingsfrau Nefertari. Rückkehr nach Assuan und am Abend Fahrt im Schlafwagenzug nach Kairo. Abendessen und Übernachtung im Schlafwagenzug.

Morgens Fahrt in das ehemalige Viertel der koptischen Christen. Besichtigung eine der ältesten Kirchen Kairos, die Abu Serga Kirche sowie die Ben-Ezra-Synagoge. Danach Fahrt nach Memphis mit der Alabastersphinx, und in Sakkara Besichtigung der Stufenpyramide und der ausgedehnten Grab- und Tempelanlage des Pharaos Djoser. Rückfahrt nach Kairo und Bummel über den Bazar Khan El-Khalili. Abendessen und Übernachtung Kairo.

Transfer zum Flughafen und Rückflug nach Deutschland.
